Durashift 6-speed manual transmissions are
available on certain models in the Ford range, each one specifically
developed to match the vehicle's own individual characters. The first 6-speed manual transmissions to appear on the current Ford line-up was Galaxy. It features on both diesel and petrol V6 models, although the ratios on these models differ to ensure the best match between engine and transmission. Specifically designed for higher output diesel or petrol engines the six-speed manual transmission available in Mondeo is the first product of a joint venture between Ford and Getrag. The wide ratio transmission enhances Mondeo's driving quality whilst maintaining refinement and flexibility. The ratio of the sixth gear reduces stress on the engine at higher speeds reducing interior noise and improving real world fuel economy. For all new Focus and Focus C-MAX, it's the outstanding 136 PS 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi engine that has the 6-speed transmission as standard. This combination of latest generation common-rail diesel engine, lightweight transmission and balanced handling delivers rear driver involvement and quality. In addition, the sporting flagship of the all new Focus range - the exhilarating ST - will feature a close-ratio 6-speed manual performance orientated gearbox for slick-shifting, positive gear changes.
